Sometimes saying goodbye to winter not only means freedom from the cold, but also welcoming seasonal allergies.

Seasonal allergies equal sneezing and coughing. They turn your head into a hot air balloon. They make you rub itching eyes through the staff meeting wondering why Mother Nature hates you.

Luckily, there’s hope!

Aside from over-the-counter and prescription medication, there’s also relief on the web. There are a number of sites and apps that can keep you posted on the everyday pollen threat in your area. This can be a great resource as you plan outdoor activities.

If you’ve never had seasonal allergies, keep doing what you’re doing. If you’re like me and recently developed allergic reactions to the outside world, here are three things that you can do to ease your symptoms (minus solitary confinement).

1. Take antihistamines
Antihistamine doesn’t mean anti-healing. These medicines will help to clear out the blockage being caused by your allergies and provide you with an unblocked head.

2. Get plenty of sleep
A cure for most things, sleep is essential for allergy season. Your body and immune system are working hard enough to fight whatever these airborne allergens are doing to your body. Help it out and give it adequate rest.

3. Drink more wine
Red wine is high in quercetin – an antioxidant that fights the histamines in your body. Not that we need another excuse to drink more wine.

4. Eat delicious fruits- they’re friends and food
Eat more fruits such as red grapes, apples, and oranges. They’re packed with antioxidants and vitamin C. This will help with the mucus, sneezing, and runny nose.
