Whitney knows what it takes to succeed, and succeed she has. The former Miss Teen Louisiana has a history of wowing her audience whether center stage beneath the competition lights, in the class room, or now prepping her own pageant clients. If you are wondering when this Superwoman sleeps, well frankly…so are we. This week, 5 Questions asks the self-proclaimed “non-girl girly girl” her advice for those who want to achieve her level of success in the pageantry industry.1)What is your preparation routine for pageants and do you see more competitions in your future?
I am officially retired for the world of pageants as a competitor. Prior to my retirement, my preparation for a pageant would include running stadium steps at the famed LSU Tiger Stadium, hair and makeup lessons for this certified “non-girly girl,” and practice, practice, practice! Now I enjoy running my clients through the routine while I eat a cinnamon roll!
2)What sparked your interest in pageants and how did you break into the industry?
Dancing is my passion, and you certainly need personality if you want to win dance competitions! My dance teacher noticed at an early age that I enjoyed the stage a bit too much. Before I knew it, my dance teacher convinced my mom to enter me into the Cinderella Scholarship program at age 4. Although success came with time, Cinderella taught me how to prepare for an interview and the importance of dedication.
3)What was the best piece of advice someone gave you, and what advice do you have for any girls getting into pageantry?
Kick butt and take names later! AND Be yourself but be your best self!
4)What has been your most effective fundraising technique for a competition?
My experience has shown that when you fully embrace the community and title you represent, fundraising is very easy. Make yourself available to those you represent and help them understand why supporting you, as the titleholder, is important!
5)What HAS to be in your pageant bag?
Butt glue and/or spray has to be in my pageant bag. Sinking halter or strapless dress? Butt spray! Slippery stage and you are a dancer? Butt spray!
