Former Miss Chicago, Luvabull Imani Josey to Compete for Miss Black Illinois



Chicago, IL – Imani Josey will pursue the coveted title of Miss Black Illinois USA 2012 during the weekend of October 8-9th, 2011 at the Radisson Hotel in Schaumburg, Illinois (1725 East Algonquin Road). The winner of this title will receive scholarship monies toward her education as well as move on to the Miss Black USA pageant to compete for the national title in August 2012. Competing against young ladies from across the state, the former Miss Chicago and Miss Cook County (Miss America Organization) will compete in diverse areas as interview, talent, and evening wear while promoting a community service platform.

A  magna cum laude graduate of the John H. Johnson School of Communications at Howard University, she is a former Miss Chicago 2009, Miss Cook County 2010, Miss John H. Johnson School of Communications (2006-2007) and District Miss Black and Gold for Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. (Miss Mid-Atlantic Alpha Chapters 2007-2008). Imani graduated from Whitney M. Young Magnet High School in 2004 and is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Communications at Northwestern University.

An award winning playwright, her one act play GRACE was selected by the Pegasus Players theater company over 600 entries across the city and was produced at the Chicago Cultural Center at the annual Young Playwrights Festival. She now serves as a judge for the annual competition.  She is a former editorial intern for Jet Magazine, and has written two cover stories and conducted several interviews with celebrities and business professionals. She has also held internships with the legal advocacy organization the Advancement Project as well as the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.

A trained dancer, Imani is the captain of the Chicago Mustang Dancers, a semi-professional cheerleading team and has also danced professionally as a member of the Chicago Bulls Luvabulls cheerleaders. A third generation asthmatic, she is a volunteer with the American Lung Association as well as the Communications Chair of their young executives board. She was a spokesperson for the organization in 2009 as a Christmas Seals Ambassador. Imani is the granddaughter of Ebony Magazine Executive Editor Emeritus Lerone Bennett and daughter of former Ebony Magazine Senior Editor Joy Bennett and attorney Michael R. Josey of the Law Offices of Michael Josey in Detroit, Michigan.

Advertising Information

To advertise with Imani in the Miss Black Illinois USA competition, please consider becoming a sponsor and/or placing ads showcasing your businesses or your personal support for her in the Miss Black Illinois USA program book!
Advertisements can be placed in full color and in print for the October 2011 pageant. Personal and business sponsors can submit their donations directly to Imani ( Imani@imanijosey.com)  or to the Miss Black Illinois USA directors (Jennifer Matthews and Lanise Lyons) via check or PayPal (missblackilusa2012@live.com)
If you choose to send your advertisement directly to the organization, please be sure to specify in your e-mail that you are supporting contestant Imani Josey, the  amount of the sponsorship donation, and the purpose for the fund.


About the Program/Ad book

The program book will be 8.5x11inches, printed in full color.  The advertisements must be a minimum of 300 dpi and either in RBG or CMYK. They must be submitted in the dimension space purchased to avoid a design correction fee of $50.  Please contact Imani Josey (Imani@imanijosey.com) for the advertisement book order form. The pricing is as follows:

·         Full Page Ad- $250. A full page is 8.5 x 11 inches.
·         Half Page Ad- $ 150. A half page is 8.5 x 5.5 inches.
·         Quarter Page Ad- $100. A quarter page is 4.25 x 5.5 inches.
·         Business Card Size Ad- $50. A business card is 3.5 x 2 inches.

If you would like to specify the placement of your advertisement in the program book, please see the following:

·         A front cover Ad is $500. Your sponsorship advertisement will be incorporated into our Miss Black Illinois USA 2012 cover design. The cover may also include other sponsors of the pageant.
·         An inside front cover Ad is $500. This will be solely your sponsors Ad.
·         A back cover Ad is $350. The Ad will also be incorporated into the back cover design of the book.
·         An inside back cover Ad is $250. This space is available on first come first served basis. We will not hold this space for your sponsor unless it is paid for upfront.

There are no refunds for entry fees and/or AD fees.
